Prof. Adnan M. Al-Smadi received B.S. degree (Magna Cum Laude) and the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from Tennessee State University, Nashville, TN, USA in 1987 and 1990, respectively. He received the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from Vanderbilt University, Nashville in 1995. From 1989 to 1991, he was an instructor of Mathematics at Tennessee State University, and from 1991 to 1992, he was an instructor of Mathematics at Fisk University, Nashville. From 1992 to 1995, he was an instructor of Aeronautical and Industrial Technology at Tennessee State University. In addition, from 1995 to 1997, he was an adjunct Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Vanderbilt University. From 1995 to 1997, he served as Interim Department Head of the Aeronautical and Industrial Technology Department at Tennessee State University.
From 1997 to 2006, he joined Hijjawi College for Engineering Technology as a faculty member of Electronics Engineering at Yarmouk University, Jordan. From 2002 to 2004, he served as the Chairman of the Department of Electronics Engineering at Yarmouk University. From 2004 to 2006, Professor Al-Smadi served as the Dean of Hijjawi College for Engineering Technology. From 2006 to 2010, he was on sabbatical leave as a professor of Computer Science and the Dean of Prince-Hussein Bin Abdullah College for Information Technology at Al Al-Bayt University in Jordan.
Professor Al-Smadi is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a member of Eta Kappa Nu in the USA. He is Committee Member for the "Recognition of non-Jordanian Higher Education Institutions & Certificates' Equivalency," at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Jordan.
